On my way back from the Patton Museum I had some time to kill so I decided to take a loop around the Salton Sea (about an hour and a half drive). I was hoping to find some sign of the water channels that the Colorado River used to fill the Salton Sea. No luck with that (like it's been a hundred years) The only sight I thought people not from this area might get a kick out of seeing was this Border guard station. It's been operating for years. It stops all traffic north bound on Highway 86. It's located about 40 miles north of the Mexican Border.
This is all part of the insane dance going on here in Southern California. The Border Guard tries to interdict the flow of Mexican illegals into the US while local bleeding hearts set out water, food and blanket stations in the desert to make their illegal trip to America more safe and comfortable. The fact that illegals (and over-enthusiastic environmentalists) are a big part of what's bankrupting California seemingly goes unnoticed.
