Sunday I got a little more energy and decided to go to the Whitewater Wildlife preserve. What a place for pictures. It's located north of Palm Springs at the top end of a mountain canyon. I met two of the resident rangers and they were personable and helpful. The trout above is a Rainbow about 20 inches long. I have no idea what the duck with the Mohawk is named but it could hold it's breath for at least a full minute while it searched the bottom for food. (the pond was probably five foot deep there). I'd like to thank my friend Elizabeth (a former Park Ranger herself) for the suggestion, Whitewater was a fun outing.
